Your First Visit
The initial visit should take about an hour and a half. When you arrive, our front desk team will help you with registration paperwork and insurance, if applicable. Then, our friendly dental assistant will take updated X-rays and intraoral photos, then talk with you about your health history. You’ll meet with Dr. Thompson, the hygenist, and assistants for a full exam, including an oral cancer screening, periodontal exam and charting, and an assessment of your teeth, gums, and occlusion. We welcome questions and enjoy educating patients about how to improve and maintain healthy smiles for life.

If you don’t have gum disease, you may schedule a cleaning following your checkup. Before you leave, the dentist will discuss treatment options, explain the benefits and purpose of each recommendation, and work with you on a plan to optimize your oral health. If you’re considering improving the appearance of your smile, be sure to ask about cosmetic dentistry, as well. Our goal is to be your personal consultants and caregivers to help you build and maintain the healthy, sensational smile you deserve.

• Preventive Dentistry – Every six months, you should schedule a comprehensive checkup and cleaning with us. These essential appointments allow our team to help you deter dental problems and enjoy long-term oral health.

• General & Restorative – With all treatments, we focus on oral health, durability, and esthetics. For example, instead of placing dark fillings or metal-based crowns on front teeth, Dr. Thompson prefers to place tooth-colored fillings and porcelain crowns. These restorations keep a smile looking white and natural, while optimizing oral health. As your general dentist, we provide services such as one-appointment root canals and implant crowns (restorations), as well. • Cosmetic Dentistry – Your smile conveys your personality and emotions every day, in every situation. • Technology – As with modern medicine, dentistry has come a long way through the years. We have invested in state-of-the-art technology to improve patient care at Thompson Family Dental. Our digital X-rays expose patients to about 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays, and the detailed images are immediately available for review in the operatory on a chairside monitor. We can actually show you your digital X-rays, Panorex images, and intraoral photos as we explain your condition and treatment options.
